Note that the tamper pin will have to be removed in order to change the battery, which can be done easily with a pair of long nose pliers. Using the long nose pliers, pull the pin out of the hole. It is now possible to remove the smoke alarm from the mounting ring. Turn the smoke alarm counterclockwise to remove it from the mounting ring. NOTE: The smoke alarm is sealed and the cover is not removable. Your smoke alarm is also equipped with a safety device which prevents mounting unless a battery is installed.
